Privacy policy
Effective date: November 5, 2026
Who we are
heyremember is made by The Remembrance Group LLC, an Illinois company. This policy covers our website and our waitlist.
In short: we collect only what you choose to give us, plus how you use our site and emails. We never sell your email or what you tell us, and you can ask us to delete your information at any time.
When the heyremember app opens, we’ll update this policy to cover it. We’ll email everyone on the waitlist before the new version takes effect.
We’re based in the United States. If you sign up from another country, your information will be sent to and kept in the US.
What we collect
When you join the waitlist: your email address and, if you choose to give them, what brings you to heyremember and whether you’d like to help test an early version.
When you write to us: your email address and whatever you send.
When you get our emails: our email provider records sending, delivery, bounce, and complaint information so we can check whether messages reach you.
When you visit: the pages you view, the site or ad that sent you, your type of device, and your rough location from your internet address. We look at this as totals, not tied to your name or email.
To stop spam: our sign-up form runs a security check that looks at technical details of your browser and device to tell people from automated bots. We use it only for that.
We don’t ask for recordings, photos or payment details on our website.
How we use it
- To tell you when heyremember is ready and, if you said you’d like to help test, to invite you to try an early version.
- To send occasional updates on what we’re building. You can leave the waitlist by replying to a confirmation email or writing to hello@heyremember.com.
- To learn from what brings you here, so we build what families actually want.
- To answer you when you write to us.
- To see which pages are useful, counted in totals.
- To see which of our ads bring people here and lead them to join.
- To keep the site safe from spam and misuse, and to follow the law.
We never use your email or what you tell us for ads, and we never use any of it to train AI.
Who we share it with
We share your information only with:
- Companies that run parts of our website for us, like the services that host the site, send our emails and count visits. They may use it only to do that work for us.
- Google, for website analytics. Google Analytics receives visit and signup-event information as described below. We do not send your email address, selected reasons, or written responses to Google Analytics.
- Authorities, if the law requires it, such as a court order.
- A new owner, if The Remembrance Group is ever sold or merges. The new owner would have to keep the promises in this policy. We’d email you first, so you could delete your information if you wanted to.
We never sell or rent your email address or what you write to us. We don’t share them with our partners, such as senior living communities, estate planners or funeral directors, unless you ask us to.
Our promises for the app
heyremember isn’t open yet. When it opens, these promises come with it:
- Private until you choose. Every recording starts as “Only me,” and you decide who hears each one.
- Never sold. We will never sell your family’s recordings or information.
- No ads. The app will never show ads.
- Never used to train AI. We won’t use your recordings to train AI, and any AI company we work with must agree not to train on them either.
- Used only for your family. Your recordings are encrypted, kept in the United States, and used only to run heyremember for your family. The only exception is if the law requires it, such as a court order. If that happens, we’ll tell you unless the law forbids it.
- AI is optional. Recording and listening work fully without it.
- Leave any time, keep everything. Download your recordings whenever you want. If you stop paying, nothing is deleted.
- If heyremember ever closes, you’ll get advance notice and a way to download everything first.
If we ever want to change one of these promises, the change won’t apply to anything you’ve already recorded unless you say yes.
Cookies and tracking
We use cookies and similar code to run our site and to see which ads work.
- Google Analytics shows us how people use the site, such as which pages they visit and where they came from. It uses cookies, but it doesn’t tell us who you are. Google explains how it uses this information.
- We do not currently run Meta Pixel or Google Ads conversion tags. Google signals and advertising personalization are disabled in our Google Analytics configuration.
You can limit this at any time:
- Block cookies in your browser.
- Install Google’s opt-out add-on to turn off Google Analytics.
Some browsers send a “Do Not Track” signal. Our site doesn’t respond to it, but the choices above work whenever you want.
How long we keep it
- Your waitlist sign-up: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. After you unsubscribe, we keep only your email address on a do-not-email list, so we never email you by mistake.
- Emails you send us: as long as we need them to help you.
- Visit details: Google Analytics retains event-level information according to our configured retention period. Aggregated reports may be retained longer.
If heyremember never opens, we’ll delete the waitlist.
Your choices
- Unsubscribe any time by replying to our email or writing to hello@heyremember.com.
- See, fix or delete what we have about you. Email hello@theremembrancegroup.com and we’ll take care of it within 30 days.
- Ask on someone else’s behalf with their written permission. If someone on our list has died, a family member can ask us to remove them.
To protect you, we may ask you to write from the email address you signed up with. You never have to give a reason, and asking won’t change how we treat you. These choices are for everyone, wherever you live.
How we protect it
Our website and emails run on well-known services built to keep information secure. Everything you send us travels encrypted, and only the people on our team who need your information can see it.
When the app opens, we’ll store recordings encrypted with Amazon Web Services in the United States and keep an encrypted backup copy at Backblaze.
No system is perfect. If your information is ever exposed in a breach, we’ll tell you promptly, along with what happened and what we’re doing about it.
Children
Our website and waitlist are for adults. We don’t knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you think a child has given us information, email hello@theremembrancegroup.com and we’ll delete it.
When the app opens, children under 13 won’t be able to have their own accounts. Kids can record with a parent. Before the app opens, the updated policy will explain how those recordings work and what parents control.
Changes to this policy
When we change this policy, we’ll post the new version here and update the effective date. For important changes, like adding the app, we’ll email everyone on the waitlist before they take effect.
We’ll never use a policy change to loosen a promise about information you’ve already given us. That would take your clear yes first.
